One Second Everyday
1SE (1 second everyday) is a really cool app. You film something interesting (or boring) everyday and the app will take one second from each video and splice it together into a 365 second film. It’s amazing how much you can fit into a single second and the resulting story can be pretty powerful.
The app was a Kickstarter project created by Cesar Kuriyama and inspired by his TED talk (below). That’s right, TED + App + Kickstarter. It’s obviously become one of my favorite apps.
I’ve been trying to get footage everyday, but I am sometimes delinquent. Capturing something interesting everyday requires a modicum of foresight. It forces me to think about what will be important about my day, and then to also be ready to film it with my iPhone. It is a very good mindfulness exercise, and I get a little thrill every time I splice together a new video.
