Beginner Zen Meditation

In preparation for our book club discussion of The Buddha Walks into a Bar, I thought it would be interesting to attend the introduction to meditation session at the San Francisco Zen Center. Everyone is encouraged to come. I’ve been many times and it is always a relaxing and… well, an enlightening experience. If you’ve always wanted to try meditation, this will be a great opportunity. After the session, we will go across the street to Samovar and drink some of San Francisco’s best tea.

When: Saturday, August 10th

Time: 8:30am

Where: The San Francisco Zen Center on Laguna and Page

More Details: Zazen Meditation Instruction

Please RSVP in the comments so I have a rough head count. See you Saturday!

This event has passed, but don’t let that stop you! The SF Zen Center offers classes every Saturday morning. Leave a comment if you plan to attend and I’ll try to meet up with you.

    How long is the class?

Looking forward to Samovar! Although sadly they no longer carry my favorite tea.

Good question! The class is about about an hour, but it never feels long. It is typically broken up into some initial instruction, a 10 minute meditation, Q&A, another 10-20 minute meditation, and then final questions. It goes by quickly and has never been overwhelming or taxing in anyway.
